Time-delays (dead times) are found in many processes inrnindustry. Time-delays are mainly caused by the timernrequired to transport mass, energy or information, butrnthey can also be caused by processing time orrnaccumulation. The contribution is focused on a design ofrnalgorithms for self-tuning digital control for processesrnwith time-delay. The algorithms are based on the somernmodifications of the Smith Predictor (SP). Onernmodification of the SP based on the digital PID controllerrnwas applied and it was compared with designed controllerrnbased on polynomial approach. The program systemrnMATLAB/SIMULINK was used for simulationrnverification of these algorithms.
