摘要

A family of dispersion strengthened alloys based on eutectic aluminum-RE systems is proposed in the present investigation. Fine and uniform eutectic dispersoids are readily obtained in a wide range of cooling rates such that the alloys can be processed by P/M or conventional casting methods. Due to their coherent or semi-coherent interface relationship with the matrix, the dispersoids are highly stable. These dispersoids can be used as the primary strengthening particles to enhance mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. More importantly, the castability of the proposed alloys is of great interest to materials researchers in their effort to reduce manufacturing cost and component weight.
