Against a dipping reflector with isotropic overburden,the general method is to calculate the location of the P-SV wave conversion point by the dipping reflector depth,known quantities including locations of source point and receive point,offset,velocities of P-wave and S-wave,and angle of dip.The paper first proposes a sotution for the P-SV wave conversion point with traveltime and without normal reflector depth.First of all,we testify a viewpoint of only P-SV wave traveltime corresponding to the only conversion point.Secondly,according to Snell' law and geometric relations,we deduce a quadratic equation and solve it for the expression of conversion point.Then we calculate the coordinates of conversion point by the minimum error of traveltime.Finally,we analyze distribution regularity of conversion point corresponding to variation of known quantities.
