The biological effct of radiation on non-man species could be divided into three categories:early mortality,reduced reproductive rates and recordable DNA damage.This article dscribed the purpose of the establishment of reference animals and plants and the selected criteria,and the application of 11 classes represents which have been selected.The non-human species into the details of the similarity of radiation damage,estimates of doses and biological effects of radiation werefurther expounded.Focused analyzes of ionizing radiation on terrestrial plants,terrestrial animals and aquatic biological effects of radiation.In order to achieve the requirements of the protection of non-human species,it was suggested to formulate ionizing radiation impact assessment and management mode of non-human species in our country,studied radiation safety standards of our existing system and Explore content of non-human species ionizing radiation protection which was necessary to increase in the standards based on the extensive investigation on non-human species ionizing radiation impact assessment and management abroad.Gradually established a perfect radiological protection common approach of human and non-human species,and provided a technical support for surrounding environment radiological assessment of nuclear tower plants in future.
