The Mechanical Analysis of CFETR CSMC Non-metallic Components

Besides the superconducting cable, protection jacket and auxiliary metallic components used in the fusion superconducting magnet coils, a certain number of non-metallic components are also essential to provide specific functions. Glass fiber reinforced plastics are extensively used for insulation material in fusion magnet. And it is adopted as the turn insulation, ground insulation, magnet modules separation bladder and buffer zone of China Fusion Engineering Test Reactor (CFETR) Central Solenoid Model Coil (CSMC). In order to ensure the good integrity under the different load cases, the non-metallic components must have sufficient strength to withstand the simultaneous shear and normal stresses. Thus, the mechanical analyses are performed based on the latest design update in the paper. During the analyses, three different load cases are taken into account. And the detailed shear stress and normal stress on the non-metallic components are calculated.
