Topical gel formulations of terbinafine hydrochloride photopolymerized PEG-DA hydrogels (T-PEG) and pure terbinafine hydrochloride (T-HCl) were prepared using two types of chitosan at different molecular weight (low and high). The ex-vivo permeation properties were studied through rat skin by using Franz diffusion cells. A marketed product was used to compare the results. A higher drug release was obtained from gels prepared with the low molecular weight chitosan with T-PEG. The release of T-HCl significantly increased when it was incorporated into the hydrogel network.
