Preparation and properties of functional bis-silanes films on SUS 304 stainless steel

Functional bis-silanes Bis-1, 2-[methylbisethoxysilyl] ethane (BMBSE) films were prepared on SUS 304 stainless steel. The structures and properties of the films are investigated by FTAR-IR, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), Potentiodynamically polarization curve and static contact angle. The results showed that a perfect BMBSE films were successfully prepared meanwhile a chemical bonding of Si-O-Fe between BMBSE films and SUS 304 stainless steel was formed. The results of Potentiodynamically polarization curve and EIS in LiBr solutions with a mass fraction of 55% indicated that the film obviously improved the anti-corrosion performance of SUS 304 stainless steel.
