The effective Co, CoB and CoBM, where M = Mo, Zn, and Fe, catalysts have been deposited on the Cu surface by a simple electroless metal deposition method using morpholine borane as a reducing agent and used as catalysts for hydrogen generation from an alkaline NaBH_4 solution. The catalytic activity of different cobalt alloys catalysts towards the hydrolysis of NaBH_4 has been investigated by measuring the amount of generated hydrogen from an alkaline solution contained 5 wt. % NaBH_4 and 0.4 wt. % NaOH. The rate of H_2 generation has been measured at solution temperatures in the range from 298 to 318 K in order to determine the activation energy.
