Demand for the premium seamless steel pipes and tubes is increasing due to the brisk activities of exploring for oil and gas under critical environments. At the same time, competition in the international market among the seamless pipe manufacturers has become severer because of their unifications, reorganizations and the new comers from newly industrialized countries. In consideration of the above circumstances, new-generation technologies of the production of seamless pipes and tubes have been developed. We introduce two of the most important technologies, one is the high-toe-angle and high-expansion piercing technology and the other is the new method of measuring and controlling hot wall thickness with Mandrel mill.
