Modelling and analysis of manufacturing tasks for combined phase-out and ramp-up production

Rising technical developments and changing customer requirements are forcing companies to renew products to ensure their competitiveness. Industrial practice shows that ramp-up products often undergo minimal design changes compared to phase-out products. In combined production, the manufacturing system of the ramp-up product is used for the further manufacturing of the phase-out product too. However, not all phase-out and ramp-up products are suitable for a combined phase-out and ramp-up production. The analysis of deviations and similarities in manufacturing tasks is the basis for the design of combined manufacturing systems and reduction of planning errors such as the faulty investment in tools or machines.
