The Large Seiners of the Java Sea: Fishermen Incomes

Fishermen incomes in Jave Sea large seiners fleet have been ananlyzed through enquiries made in different harbours of North Java Coast: Tegal, Pekalongan and Jwana. First, the various components of the incoe by the crew of the large purse-seiners of the Java Sea are presented. In a second step, we assess the level of this income, taking into account the social context in which it is earned. Notably, the mode of sharing between owners and fishermen, Its relation to the distribution owners and fisherment. Its relation to the distribution of the earnings of other workers in the surrounding ogricultural milieu is briefly presented for discussion.
