Inverter with 280 kHz frequency to induction levitation of metal melting in a vacuum

Levitating metal melting is an attractive solution for metallurgists because the heated metal charge floats levitatively in a vacuum without touching any material, in contrast to what happens in the inductive crucible melting where the metal touches the walls of the crucible. Such levitation melting of the metal does not introduce external impurities, and its additional feature is mixing the molten mass during the process. The paper presents an inverter built for levitation metal melting, visualization of the results of electrical measurements made and a technical solution for keeping the metal sample in the optimal place of the device.
