In the context of an increasing preoccupation to reduce the number of road accidents, wireless communications have been identified as a promising solutions in this area. This paper presents the simulation results for a Visible Light Communications (VLC) sensor envisioned for vehicular communication applications. Since the outdoor VLC channel can be affected by multiple noise sources, numerical filters and digital signal processing techniques are used as a solution to increase the robustness to noise and to enhance the sensor's flexibility. Simulations are performed in order to analyze the effect of the modulation frequency, SNR and message length on the BER.
