This work is aimed at increasing of firmness of milling cutters, having variable cutting velocities along the length of cutting teeth edges on the basis of special process. It was found out that the main reason of their low firmness was unequal cutting velocity along the length of cutting mill tooth cutting edge, springing up due to its specific design and also peculiarities of parts treatment. An improvement of cutting mills firmness was proposed, by means of ensuring alternating parameters of its radius of cutting wedge's curve and their properties with regard to the length of the tool's cutting edge. In the work the regularities of ensuring of these parameters with regard to the length of the tool's cutting edge were established. These specified variable tool's parameters at exploitation are preserved on the basis of conservation of geometrical parameters of the tool by application of super-strong composite coating. On the whole, the increase in firmness of end milling cutters is made on the basis of combined finishing treatment and functionally oriented approach.
