This paper deals with significant aspects connected to what the specialized literature calls CAD and it refers to modelling harmonic gears, from a modern and personal point of view. The first part presents harmonic gears in several constructive variants. This is an analysis of the characteristics of this gear, studying the most important components. The second part studies Smart Fasteners Property Manager and how can this insert fasteners and associated hardware into assemblies. In order to illustrate SolidWorks's ability to offers part and features library or to process databases and to develop new part library a harmonic gear was modeled.
