Since anions play a significant role in various biological phenomena,it is important todevelop fluorescence anion sensors.1 As a strategy for developing an anion receptor with highselectivity and affinity,it is effective to introduce hydrogen bond donors such as urea in amolecular cleft structure where functional groups are sterically arranged.2 In order to developan anion receptor having a 3D structure,we focused on polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane(POSS).POSS is a rigid cubic molecule composed of Si-O bonds having organic side-chainson each vertex.Luminophores-integrated POSSs have been invented for the applications inOLEDs and fluorescence sensors.3 In this study,we evaluated anion binding to the modifiedPOSS having eight urea groups and applied to anion fluorescence sensors utilizing its 3Dstructure.
