The paper focuses on the actual issues of the formation of students' competence in intercultural communication in a digital educational environment. The goal is to confirm or deny the assumption that communicative activity acts as an integral indicator characterizing the level of development of the studied competence. The research uses a multimethod research design and relies on extensive empirical data. Being developed and implemented in practice, a set of measures aimed at building competence in the field of intercultural communication among students of non-linguistic universities in a digital educational environment showed its validity and focus, which allowed to solve the scientific problems of the pedagogical experiment and confirmed the hypothesis.
