Amorphous carbon nanotube-polypyrrole (aCNT-PPy) composite has been synthesized by simple oxidative polymerization of pyrrole in presence of aCNT. Structural and morphological characterizations confirm that the granular structure of PPy uniformly attached on the amorphous wall of the CNT. aCNT-PPy hybrid system exhibits the enhanced electrocatalytic oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in comparison with the pure PPy in alkaline medium. The improved ORR activity of aCNT-PPy may be attributed to the unique attachment of conducting PPy on the aCNT backbone.
