In this work, colloidal silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized using silk sericin (SS) extracted from Bombyx mori silk. As obtained SS-AgNPs were mixed with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and blend films were prepared by simple solution casting method. The SS-AgNPs-PVA blend films were analyzed using UV-Visible spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The morphological study of the blend films was studied using field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and the thermal behavior of the films was characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The UV-Visible study confirms the presence of AgNPs by showing surface plasmon resonance peak at λ=413 nm. The XRD study confirmed the presence metallic silver in the blend film.
