Congenital tremors (CT; myoclonia congenital) is a sporadic but widely distributed disease of neonatal piglets characterized by action-related repetitive myoclonus. Tremors vary in severity within and between affected litters with some piglets havingonly fine muscle fasciculations while others have pronounced repetitive contractions that make it difficult for the piglet to stand, walk, or nurse. The first reports of clinical disease were made by Kinsley (1922) in the United States,1 Payen and Fournier (1934) in France,2 and Hindmarsh (1937) in Australia.
