At present, the reports about tributyrin in poultry were limited. This study was undertaken to investigate the effects of tributyrin with different concentrations on growth performance, small intestinal morphology, and gut flora of broilers. Nine hundred 0 d AA broilers were randomly divided into five groups with six replicates each. Five groups were fed with basal diet and diets supplemented with tributyrin at the level of 0.1%, 0.2%, 0.3%, and 0.4%, respectively. The results show that tributyrin increases the growth performance, the villus height, and the ratio of villus height to crypt depth of duodenum, jejunum, ileum, cecum, and colon of broilers compared with the control. Tributyrin reduces the number of Escherichia coli, while lactobacillus in duodenum and cecum improve in broilers fed 0.2% tributyrin. 0.2% tributyrin have a clear positive effect on broilers, such effects could be considered for new application in poultry production.
