In this paper, the NiCu/Al_2O_3 composite coatings were prepared by using electro-codeposition. The effects of the current density on the end-product coatings were analyzed by using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry. The results showed that at the current densities lower than 30 mA/cm~2, the Al_2O_3 could embed into the NiCu matrix. The grain size of the NiCu matrix decreases with the increase of the current density. If the current density is greater than 30 mA/cm~2, there is no Al_2O_3 in the coatings. Furthermore, the matrix is composed of NiCu and Ni_(0.19)Cu_(0.81).
