We propose a method to detect image forgery based on the Lambert illumination model and shadows. This method describes a multitude of shading and shadow-based constraints by the wedge revealing the location of the distant light source. Simplify the parameters of the wedge and make it more accurate using Lambert model. There is linear programming problem and error function to explain the corresponding model. Detect the image tampering based on the inconsistency in light source direction of different areas and physically inconsistent of shading and shadows in an image. Experimental results show that our algorithm can calculate the light source direction and consistency in the shadows accurately. As a result, our developed algorithm can effectively identify the authenticity of an image.
