To investigate the rolling control characteristics of canard-controlled missile with afree-spinning tail, we have adopted a numerical simulation method. Three dimensional compressible Reynolds averaged Navier Strokes numerical simulations were carried out to predict the flowfield characteristics and the SST k-w two equation turbulence model was used for the numerical simulations here. Through the numerical simulation, we have got a function curve which indicates the rolling moment coefficient is positive when the mach number changes. So the canards are effective as rolling control devices for canard missiles with free-spinning tails. We have compared the numerical simulation result with experiment result which is consistent. So the theory model in the paper is very good for dealing with the similar problems.
