This paper describes the development of an undular bore in a circular pipe experimentally and numerically. One method of forming a bore is releasing a stream of water from a weir that is located at the downstream end. A few experiments were conducted for generating of the undular bore in a circular duct using various weir heights. The experiments were recorded by a camera to extract the water surface profile data. A One-Dimensional (1D) depth-averaged model with considering the vertical acceleration terms was applied to simulate the undular bore. Also, the effect of a damping function on water surface profile is tested in this study. Numerical simulations were conducted under the condition of hydraulic experiments. Comparison between the numerical results and experimental data showed that the model is sufficiently accurate for simulation of the undular bore in a circular pipe.
