ECOLOGICAL INTENSIFICATION OF FISH FARMING: TO DEVELOP A METHOD FOR APPLIED GOALS DEFINITION

The increasing demand of seafood products is not anymore sustained by fisheries. This demand has to be supplied by aquaculture systems with a necessary improvement of the production practices, using fewer natural resources and emitting less pollutant.Nevertheless, these goals are not sufficient to match the stakeholders' expectations in the production territories. A wider approach has to be developed taking into account the multiple services supplied by aquaculture production systems. Our objectiveis to propose a method to define ecological intensification of fish farming, based on ecosystem services definition.
