APPLICATION OF MEMBRANE CONTACTORS FOR OXYGENATION OF PROCESS WATER IN AQUACULTURE

Increasing stocking density in aquaculture leads to the necessity of additional oxygen intake into the water. There are several commercial solutions for that purpose on the market, including surface aerators, packed columns, air lifts, diffusers and injectors. Many of these systems have severe disadvantages like causing disturbing turbulences, having moving parts that might harm the fish and low oxygen transfer efficiencies. Especially the situation for sensitive applications (fry or fingerlings) isunsatisfactory.
