Opera in the United Kingdom is performed at the highest level at the Convert Garden Opera House and at the Coliseum in London. Of equal stature is the summer opera festival at Glyndebourne which takes place in its highly successful opera house built 25 years ago - it was the study building for this conference series in 1995. There are several other summer opera festivals in the UK which are housed in a variety of buildings of various shapes and sizes. One of these is Grange Park Opera which for ten years was housed in a simply constructed auditorium on a country estate.
