The article substantiates the investment processes in Russia within the period 2015-2017, the analysis of investment structure and the evaluation of investment performance. The paper focuses on the amount of financial resources invested in the speculative financial market; a significant regional differentiation; a low inflow of foreign investments, a profound government policy aimed at creating competitive innovative sectors of the economy. The conditions for improving investment processes in the Russian economy are formulated on the basis of the analysis made on the factors that hinder the investment activities.
