The dynamic stiffness and damping of railway track are significant parameters for the dynamic simulation. This paper investigated the track dynamic performance by carried out wheel-dropping experiments on a full scale China Railway Track System (CRTS) II slab track model. The vertical vibration transmitting characteristics of the CRTS II slab track under impact load were analyzed and summarized. Meanwhile, the dynamic response of rail fastening tension clamp under impact load was obtained. Finally, the whole dynamic stiffness and damping of the slab track can be determined by the wheel-dropping test. It is found that impact load imposes great excitation on the tension clamp and it is more liable to induce damage of the tension clamp. The dynamic stiffness and damping of CRTS II slab track are 128.9 kN/mm and 108.4 kN·s/m, respectively.
