Strategic Note for a Digital Innovation Policy

Future-oriented production methods, systems and tools driven by industry 4.0 generate fundamental transformative processes at local and global level. The "rise of Industry" vision addresses the entire field of advanced manufacturing. Within the high relevant trend of personalization, these thoughts regard people-oriented horizontal policy aspects with related middle-course tasks for moving value chain processes and addressing societal impacts. To enable a society paradigm shift, these thoughts propose a "people-centered" model for realizing high-value production and societal innovation. Trends and emerging popular expectations require the strategic interplay of techno-economic objectives and people-oriented values and life-styles. In this direction, forward-looking and sense-making approach can strengthen advanced manufacturing 4.0 initiatives within the large undergoing societal transformation. Horizontal policy aspects are briefly reported as middle-course tasks towards 2030. The focus goes to social connectivity as a key enabling factor also for manufacturing success to engage demand driven people creativity for value creation for a sustainable progress.
