Latex is a polymer used in vehicle tires manufacturing. Latex has excellent mechanical properties in terms of flexibility and elasticity but has poor stiffness modulus. Whereas starch is a polymer that has good stiffness modulus and widely used as reinforcing materials. Grafting these two materials to form a starch-based latex hybrid can improve the tire's mechanical properties. This research aims to obtain a higher yield of latex-starch hybrid by using the cathodic Contact Glow Discharge Electrolysis (CGDE) method with varying the electrode material and applied voltage. The process is conducted in a batch reactor with the condition used are 1%-wt latex, 0.02 M of Na2SO4 as electrolyte, latex:starch ratio is 4:1, and cathode depth 5 mm. The results are processed using tungsten-graphite and tungsten-stainless steel electrode are obtain yield of 80.851% and 49.21% at 340 volts. This study also shows that increasing applied voltage will increase yield products. After varying the applied of 340; 370; and 400 volt voltage on tungsten-graphite electrode, the product increased to 80.851%; 84.710% and 88.996% respectively.
