Light-Emitting-Diode (LED) lighting adoption is accelerating due to lower energy costs, extended lifespans and reduced maintenance. Lighting devices more frequently contain embedded processors which enable them to sense, detect, communicate and be networked. Low-voltage Ethernet power for lighting reduces cost and routes data to and from network-connected lighting. Lights can become data and sensor nodes which collect and disseminate information such as occupancy, temperature, O_2 levels, particulate matter, motion, video, sound, etc. Network-connected Lighting can reduce weight and increase safety aboard ships. Smart+Connected Lighting solutions can also be used to deliver and support services such as asset management, emergency/incident response, transportation coordination/oversight and physical security.
