Myxomatous mitral valve degeneration (MMVD) is the most common cardiac disease in dogs and the prevalence increases with age.1-2 In the course of the disease some dogs develop severe clinical signs of CHF.3 After having suffered from an episode of CHF, most dogs die within one year despite medical management.
