We study the teleparallel gravity in five-dimensional spacetime with particular discussions on braneworld and Kaluza-Klein (KK) theories. In the braneworld theory, the induced matter formalism of teleparallel gravity in the Friedmann-Lematre-Robertson-Walker (FLRW) cosmology is equivalent to general relativity (GR) due to the same Friedmann equation. In the KK scenario, the dimensional reduction of the 5-dimensional torsion scalar generates a trace-torsion-scalar coupling in the 4D effective Lagrangian, which can lead to an Einstein frame for the non-minimal coupled teleparallel gravity. However, it is still equivalent to GR in the KK scenario up to the total derivative.
