The ecological detention facility, one important rainfall utilization measure, has the remarkable effects on urban rainwater runoff control. Owing to its characteristic of stronger permeability, it is also important to replenish groundwater in the areas around them. In our work, the effect of ecological detention facility on groundwater replenishment was analyzed through developing groundwater modeling system model using the typical rainfall events of studied sites. In addition, the case study based on the real rainfall data of Beijing was carried out on groundwater replenishment difference between under an ecological detention facility scenario and under no ecological detention facility scenario to demonstrate the groundwater replenishment effect of the ecological detention facility. Our research is helpful to promote rainfall utilization technology of ecological detention facilities through providing quantitative results.
