This work proposes an overview of current and future automotive assembly line methods, highlighting challenges facing manufacturing executives to increase efficiency and optimize the assembly line output. Increasingly, assembly line manufacturing is characterized by "concurrent processes"--multiple parallel activities that feed into a final assembly stage, rather than a single large system. These processes require sophisticated communication systems, material flow plans, and production schedules. This paper is focused on the methods and processes implemented to increase the speed and accuracy needed to meet competition challenges and strengthen the overall manufacturing process. The conclusions underline innovative present trends on automotive assembly line methods which reduce waste, speed up automated processes, and allow for high quality products.
