Fuel Cell Amplifier: An Innovative Hybrid CHP Unit for Small Medium Size Buildings

Fuel Cell heating systems are available for new and existing buildings. These micro CHP's are more efficient compared to standard fossil heating appliances. A different approach is described in this article. The focus point is using a small PEM fuel cell (FC) and amplifier, over a refrigeration circuit similar to a heat pump (HP), on a higher thermal energy output. This article attempts to compare the two micro CHP alternatives, to answer question from an environmental and energy economic point of view, and shows an alternative outlook to this kind of innovative heating technology. Methodologically a model is used to explain the dependency of environmental and energy economic factors for this appliances. The possible outcome could be used by entrepreneurs in the H2 field, researchers and H2 producers for future energy innovation outlooks.
