On Applying Big Data and Cloud Computing for Quality Improvement in Higher Education

This paper presents a cloud and big data based approach for improving the quality of higher education. We developed a framework (CHEQEF) for analyzing the quality of higher education and further improving it. This framework uses the data available from the institutions under the study and feedbacks of various stakeholders including students, faculty members and industry delegates. The process starts with the analysis of examination results and later the stakeholder's feedback on the analysis of results. The framework focused on enhancement of syllabus and subjects in the various courses in the institutions under the study that ultimately results in the overall quality of the education in the higher educational institution. Moreover, this framework can also be adopted for school education with minor medication. The framework uses Hadoop and associated products for computations.
