Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) and Situational Awareness for Pilots in UAS Operations: A Report on Survey Data, Results, and Implications for UAS Airspace Integration - (PPT)

If we can estimate the number of pilots who reliably use NOTAMs, we can use that data as safety case evidence of the value of UAS operations NOTAMs in providing airspace user awareness in mixed airspace operations. If we can show that UAS related NOTAMs are reliably available and viewed by pilots, we can validate issuance of such NOTAMs and current awareness efforts being employed: 1. If not found consistently, we can improve placement of UAS NOTAMs in feeds. By gathering data for various pockets of airspace, we can possibly show consistency of the pilot culture as a whole, or find increased/decreased awareness by area: 1. Washington DC area & TFRs; 2. Edwards AFB area & UAS ops; 3. UAS Test Site areas?
