Foreignization and Domestication in Chinese Translation of Toni Morrison's Beloved in the Perspective of Cross-cultural Communication

摘要

African American writer Toni Morrison has entered into the research scope of Chinese literary scholars for years, and Chinese version of her novels has been emerged one after another. This paper explores foreignizing and domesticating strategies employed in translating process and explains the role they have played in cross-cultural communication, expounding that cultural heterogeneity should be preserved in translating and Chinese translators need to get themselves visible in constructing Chinese cultural discourse.
