Food responsive diarrhea (FRD) is the most common form of idiopathic chronic enteropathy (ICE) in dogs [1-3]. The definition encompasses all forms of chronic diarrhea associated with intestinal inflammation without any objective cause that respond clinically to a dietary change. The other types of ICE are antibiotic responsive diarrhea (ARD) and steroid/immunosuppressive drug responsive diarrhea (SRD). This presentation will be limited to canine FRD.
