Aerosol particle mass analyzer (APM) measures the mass of airborne particles with the centrifugal force and the electrostatic force (Ehara et al., 1996). The excellent accuracy of the APM has been confirmed with measuring the mass of 30~791 nm size standard Polystyrene Latex (PSL). However, the mass of spherical/spherical-like solid/liquid particles smaller 30 or 50 nm in mobility size are underestimated as much as 30~80 % regardless of the design of the APM (Tajima et al, 2011; 2013). The mass underestimation may be due to the physical properties of particles (Brownian motion or their shape) or the APM itself (ex: the recirculation flow in the APM suggested by Lin et al., 2014) and has not been clarified.
