Software is so important for all major industries that it is considered to be the building block of modern civilization.One recent survey shows that globally more than 50% of the computer users admit they have used pirate software on their systems. Rampant software piracy can be attributed to various causes, psychological factor, economical factor, technological factor, and institutional factor are all included. The age range of individuals, the development stage of a country, and the quality of governance will have the largest impact on the incidence of software piracy, and countermeasures may be oriented accordingly.
