Distributed multimedia streaming service algorithms over cloud computing environment

Although cloud computing provides an infrastructure for transcoding, distributing, and streaming content in order to deliver scalable rich multimedia applications and services on the Internet, it also hosts specific challenges of task management, load balancing, and fault tolerance remain. Previously, to address these issues, we proposed a cloud-based distributed multimedia streaming service (CloudDMSS). CloudDMSS is designed to run on all major cloud computing services and is highly adapted to the structure and policies of Hadoop. In this paper, to improve system's capabilities, we propose four important algorithms with architectural components: content replication, system recovery, management server, and streaming resource-based connection (SRC) algorithms.
