Upon request from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and the Lao Ministry of Energy and Mines, Oak Ridge National Lab (ORNL) conducted a performance analysis of Vajiralongkorn and Rajjaprabha Hydropower Projects in Thailand and Nam Leuk and Nam Ngum 1 Hydropower Projects in Laos. This work was performed in support of two projects implemented by the US Department of Energy (DOE) and US Department of the Interior (DOI) under the Smart Infrastructure for the Mekong (SIM) Program: the Sustainable Hydropower in Lower Mekong Countries (SHLMC) project in Thailand and the Smart Sustainable Hydropower Project (SSHP) in Laos. The DOE requested ORNL to provide unique technical assistance for SIM projects. ORNL is a leading national laboratory in hydropower analysis, with a highly recognized and qualified team of scientists addressing energy generation optimization of small to large-scale systems (basin-, regional-, and national-scale) for DOE. This report summarizes a performance and optimization .analysis conducted by ORNL on the four hydropower plants.
