Arsenic in groundwater of the southwestern Buenos Aires province, Argentina

The main objective of this study was to evaluate arsenic in drinking waters of the south-,; western part of the Buenos Aires province (Argentina), in order to assess toxicity concerning both human. consumption and animal production. More than 25 geographic locations were sampled, most of them twice in a year (including dry and wet seasons). Sampling sites were at Bahia Blanca, Rosales, Pringles Tornquist, Suarez, Villarino and Tres Arroyos districts and they were GIS referenced. Arsenic concen-trations in water samples of shallow wells (up to 40 meters) were measured by atomic absorption spectrometry, and concentrations from 0.015 to 0.267 mg/L were found.
