Arsenic in different compartments of northwest Patagonian lakes, Argentina

We report arsenic concentrations ([As]) in the principal components of the planktonic and benthic food web of Northern Patagonia Andes Range ultraoligotrophic lakes, Argentina. In addi- tion, [As] were also determined in muscle of four fish species occupying the highest trophic position in six lakes belonging to Nahuel Huapi and Los Alerces National Parks. We also present [As] measured in sedimentary sequences from lakes located in both parks, with special attention to layers related to tephra deposits and layers from the second half of the 20th century.
