Application of composite materials in automotive structure for weight reduction: state of the art and perspective

CO_2 regulations until years 2020 force the car industry to take into account all the technological levers allowing to reduce the carbon footprint. Those levers are power train efficiency, weight reduction, architecture and aerodynamic optimization, and friction losses reductions.
