The Natural Gas produced from Jaisalmer-Mari high fields has very low calorific value and high specific gravity because of the presence of substantial amount of Nitrogen, Carbon Dioxide and Helium. To meet the saleable expectations and market requirements, the gas quality had to be improved by removing the excess N2, CO2 & He. So a unique & first of its kind technology based on Pressure Swing Adsorption method was installed through which gas is purified by passing it through Natural Gas Purification and Drying Unit (NGPDU) to obtain the desired quality of gas. NGPDU works on the basic principle of Adsorption & Desorption by decreasing the pressure subsequently by 40 times during the entire process. The unit comprises of four adsorbers, two receivers and a gas blower which allows the continuous processing of Natural Gas during the entire cycle. This unit is controlled by the Electromagnetic Solenoid valves and Pressure Switches which are controlled by a Control Unit forming fitting signals placed at a specific distance from the unit. This paper includes the detailed working operation of the unit and the procedure to control it. The special working program which operates the unit through the Control Panel has been included which controls the duration and timing of the opening and closing of the Solenoid Valves and the Gas Compressor. Finally the Gas Composition Analysis from the Gas Chromatograph results of the samples has been added of the supplied gas and purified end product from the Unit. Using four adsorbent vessels allows continuous production of the target Natural Gas and permits pressure equalisation among the components of NGPDU. The special chemical treatment of adsorbent maximally baffles the reduction in adsorption efficiency at higher temperatures and makes it ambient to work at temperatures from 5°to 55° C.
